The Perry City Council met on Friday instead of the normal Monday in anticipation of the 4th of July holiday on Thursday.

The council discussed and accepted a grant agreement from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for eligible funds going towards the Acquire Snow Removal Equipment project in the amount of $375,300. 

Other items on the agenda that were approved during the meeting include a resolution awarding general obligation corporate purpose bonds to the City of Perry, a project sponsor agreement with AmeriCorps and a short-term housing lease agreement for AmeriCorps members, amendment two from the Iowa Economic Development Authority to the Downtown Housing Grant, plus covenant documentation for the Downtown Housing Grant.

Additional items approved by the council were pay applications for the Frog Creek Restoration, Iowa Street Stormwater, Wetland, and phases two and three for the Perry Municipal Airport Runway 14/32 Relocation projects. Also, authorizing operational transfers of funds for fiscal year 2024, authorizing those funds for debt payments, and authorizing emergency levy transfer. 

The council approved the Perry Public Library Board of Trustees to two members to serve a four-year term until 2028, tax abatement applications for residential construction to be completed in 2024, a transfer of monies to close the recreation equipment fund, a professional services agreement with Bolton & Menk for the Strategic Plan Phase Two project in regards to the Tyson Foods closure, a media relations services agreement with Wixted & Company for media relations for Tyson Foods in the amount of $11,500.
