Imagine you had major knee surgery in December of your junior year of high school, then qualified for the District Golf Tournament five months later. That in of itself would be quite an accomplishment, but for recent Greene County High School graduate Nathan Behne, that just scratches the surface.

Behne’s senior sports year is one that may not be duplicated, at least any time soon. He’s a two-time All-State kicker in football who signed to kick for NCAA DII Upper Iowa. Behne was a starter on the basketball court for the Rams, and he was in three Spring sports at the same time. A starter on the 11-3 soccer team who earned All-State honors and played in the East/West Showcase. He ran track and was on a State Meet qualifying relay, and oh, yes, he played golf.

In the classroom, Nathan was the Valedictorian for the Greene County class of 2024, and he was Academic first team All-State in the Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons. In July, he’ll be the kicker for the South team in the North-South Shrine All-Star football game. He’s also spent recent football seasons raising money to battle childhood cancer, gathering pledges of money for each point he scored on the football field.
