Greene County has just five combined wins between the softball and baseball teams with not a lot of the regular season remaining. Coach Tom Kennedy’s softball Rams are 4-17 with eight straight losses while Coach Kyle Stalder’s baseball Rams are 1-17 with seven losses in a row.
The baseball Rams had one of their busier weeks of the season with games Monday through Thursday. They led early vs. Saydel (Des Moines) on Monday and vs. Southeast Valley (Gowrie) on Tuesday before falling. Wednesday’s contest in Perry saw the Rams lose 1-0 on an unearned run in the fifth inning to break the scoreless tie. Thursday saw the Rams lose 12-0 to West Marshall in State Center, but the Trojans are 33-1 and top ranked in Class 2A.
In softball, it was three losses in three games, and after an early lead vs. Saydel, the Rams had a rough go vs. the Eagles, SEV, and the Jayettes.
