Perry Police Assistant Chief Jim Archer warns residents against using fireworks in the community.

Archer tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the sale of fireworks is allowed in Perry, but the city has permission to regulate the use of them. He highlights that a decision was made last year to ban the use of fireworks within the city limits.

“Now you can buy those and go out in the country, you can be out in the rural areas. We’re not going to bother you one bit out there, but it’s really important to keep in mind as well that even if you are shooting off fireworks legally, it’s really important that parents are there because they can be extremely dangerous, and if you have kids out there, they can get seriously injured.”

Archer stresses that if people are caught in the act of shooting off fireworks within the City of Perry, it will result in a fine of up to $250.
