It was a good start for Coach Kyle Stalder’s Greene County baseball team on Tuesday night vs. Southeast Valley (Gowrie), but a 3-0 lead did not last. The Jaguars improved to 6-11 with a 9-3 victory at Allensworth Field in Jefferson in a game heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The Rams, now 1-15, scored one time in the first inning and twice more in the third, and the three run advantage held up through four innings. From that point on, it was all SEV as they scored seven times in the fifth, then added single runs in the sixth and seventh frames.

Junior Noah Hinote took the pitching loss and struck out six without allowing a hit through four innings. However, the first seven Jaguars reached base in the fifth and they all scored. Hinote was relieved by junior Gavyn Winters, who got the final nine outs.

SEV senior Hane Sorensen pitched all seven innings and allowed just four hits, all singles. Three of Greene County’s hits were by junior Crew Conner, with junior Camden Jacobs getting a first inning base hit. Those are the only two Rams with batting averages above the .300 mark and Conner had the lone RBI for Greene County.

The Rams are in Perry tonight to face a Blue Jays team that won 4-3 in nine innings when they met in Jefferson. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
