It’s Heart of Iowa Activities Conference softball and baseball tonight in Jefferson for the Greene County teams as they host the Saydel (Des Moines Eagles). Greene County has a 4-14 overall record in softball and 1-13 in baseball. In conference play, the Rams are 3-9 in softball and 1-10 in baseball.

Although victories have been tough to come by for the Rams, the teams came close in their last competitions, both in Carroll. The softball Rams were nipped 5-4 vs. Kuemper Catholic in Carroll on Thursday, while the baseball Rams were tied with Carroll High on Friday at 4-4 in the fifth inning, but fell by a final of 8-4.

Saydel is 9-9 this season in softball, but 9-3 in the conference, while the Eagles are 20-8, 10-2 in baseball. The Eagles won softball and baseball handily when the Rams and Eagles met earlier this season in Des Moines.

Tonight’s varsity softball action is one varsity game with no JV at the City Field on E. Lincolnway. It’s a 6 p.m. start and can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
