Stuart American Legion Post Number 146 is hosting their yearly American Legion Riders event.

Post Commander Chuck Avey says that all riders that participate will meet up at the Stuart American Legion Hall at 323 Southwest 2nd Street. He mentions that there is a $20 entrance fee per bike before they leave, and that they will head out at 9:30am. They will head out to Soldier, Iowa, stopping in Audubon and Denison on the way, then coming back through Earling and Kimballton. The final stop will be at the original Freedom Rock on Highway 25 before returning to Stuart.

Avey mentions that on the route, they will visit the Freedom Rocks of other counties as well, and also have lunch. Once the riders return to the Stuart American Legion Hall, they will play a poker hand, as well as hand out some ride prizes, and hold a 50/50 raffle and silent auction. Silent auction items include a $100 gift certificate to Range Master, a mystery autographed jersey from The Rookie and several other items, and that the 50/50 raffle will be for two hog quarters, half a hog, or the whole hog depending on which tickets participants purchase. Tickets for the two quarters or half hog will be $10 per ticket. Proceeds from the event are slated to benefit the Iowa Veterans and Children’s Fund.
