A representative from the Perry Police Department discusses being extra careful with the amount of motorists in the community.

Perry Police Assistant Chief Jim Archer tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the warmer weather in the state of Iowa is bringing out more motorists on the county roads. He reminds residents to be mindful when driving as motorcycles are smaller vehicles that are harder to see.

“So take that extra time when you’re stopping at stop signs, making your turns, merging lanes, passing cars that you’re really looking out for those motorcyclists.”

Archer illustrates that a situation involving a car versus a motorcycle usually doesn’t end well for the motorcyclist. He encourages people to respect motorcyclists because they have the same rights as regular vehicles do.
