The Perry City Council held its annual meeting Monday evening to discuss the date for selling of general obligation corporate purpose bonds.

The council decided on June 28th at 9am as the date to sell the purpose bonds and authorized the use of a preliminary official statement. Other items on the agenda that were approved included four pay applications. The first was for the Wastewater Treatment Facility in the amount of $216,857.40, the second was for the HMA Street Repairs in the amount of $1,036,954.26 to Des Moines Asphalt an Paving. The third pay application was for the Willis Avenue Overlay project in the amount of $460,992.63, and the final application was for the Runway 14/32 Relocation Phase at the Perry Municipal Airport in the amount of $2,500.96.

Additional items approved was a resolution to set salaries for employees of the City of Perry for fiscal year 2025, a resolution authorizing the donation of unused/outdated equipment from the Perry Police Department (metal dog crate estimated at $200), and a resolution to set a public hearing on June 28th at 9am in the Towncraft Building in Perry for a proposed zoning amendment from residential multi-family district to residential duplex district. Also, a resolution approving tax abatement applications for residential constructed to be completed in 2024, a resolution approving reimbursement of law enforcement training agreement for Officer Perez to clear his contract with his former employer of the City of Norwalk, a reimbursement of law enforcement training expenses agreement, and a resolution approving Future plan Plan Design and Administration proposal for the Police Trust.
