One AC/GC senior has received recognition in one of the sports he loves.

The Iowa Association of Track Coaches named Andrew Mahaffey to the Academic All-State Team, recognizing his achievements on the track and in the classroom. Mahaffey was a key long distance runner, leading the team in the 1600 meter race with a personal best time of 4 minutes 33.12 seconds, and in the 3200 meter race with a personal best time of 9 minutes 46.18 seconds. He placed 11th in the 1600 at the state track meet this year, and 7th in the 3200. Mahaffey was also a key piece in the team’s 12th place finish in the 4X800 meter relay.
