The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.
The Board heard an update from Jefferson City Administrator Scott Peterson. He said construction on East Lincoln Way will begin on Monday, June 17th and is expected to take about two months to complete. He mentioned the Iowa Department of Transportation will likely hold public input meetings this fall about reducing Highway 4 in Jefferson to three lanes, with a center turn lane. Peterson told the Board that the police department recently hired Noah Luther as a new officer, but lost Nick Johnson to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. The police department now has six officers for an eight person department.
Next, the Board approved two 28E agreements for the Opioid Use Disorder Epidemic Remediation Services. Midwest Wellness received $75,000 and New Opportunities got $35,000 from funding that the county received when it joined other counties in Iowa as part of a multi-state lawsuit against pharmaceutical companies and opioids that was through a settlement.
Finally, the Board recessed until 1pm when the meeting was reconvened to canvas last Tuesday’s primary election results. There were no changes from the unofficial results and now those have become official.
