Perry Police Cheif Eric Vaughn spoke at Baxter's request

A member from the Perry Police Department issues a reminder about obeying street signs with all the construction in the area.

Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he’s seen a lot of drivers disregarding the street closure signs with work being done on Willis Avenue. He says that activity increases especially after work hours where he finds people ignoring the signs and maneuvering around them. Vaughn acknowledges that he’s also witnessing drivers going the wrong direction on the one-way roads.

“So if you’re trying to scoot around those road closures, be mindful of that one-way traffic. We’ve seen a lot of people going the wrong way, especially down Warford (Street) and Lucinda (Street) in the past couple of weeks going around those closures.”

Vaughn stresses to obey the closure signs because there are likely road hazards or workers that might be still on duty and encourages residents to allow the appropriate amount of time to travel to the desired destination.
