The June Primaries wrapped up Tuesday evening with the unofficial results from a couple of contested races in Dallas County.

According to the Dallas County Auditor’s Office, current Iowa Republican in House District 28 David Young defeated Republican challenger Chad Brewbaker. The Dallas County Attorney had two Republican candidates for the seat that was to fill a vacancy and Matt Schultz beat out Ronald Carl Forsell. There was a contested Democratic race for the US Representative District 3 as Lanon Baccam defeated Melissa Vine.

For the November General Election, Young will challenge Democratic opponent Laura Snider in the House District 28, Schultz will face Democrat Meggan Guns for County Attorney, the County Auditor will be between Republican Todd Halbur and Democrat Robert Oller, Republican Mark Hanson will run against Democrat Sarah Trone-Garriott for Senate District 14 and Democrat Lannon Baccam will battle Republican Zach Nunn for the Senate District 3 seat in November.

The positions that will be uncontested in November include Republican Adam Infante for Dallas County Sheriff, Republican Julia Helm for Board of Supervisors District 2, and Republican Summer Portzen for Dallas County Treasurer. According to the Dallas County Auditor’s Office, there were 75,383 registered voters with 4,717 ballots cast. The Dallas County Board of Supervisors will be canvassing the votes at their next meeting this coming Tuesday to make the results official.
