The new season of the Greene County Farmers Market begins tomorrow.

Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County is operating the market for a third year and Board President Danielle Ross believes this year’s farmers market is going to be one of the best.

“We have it running pretty smooth after last year. We got everything figured out that we needed to do and now we’re just looking at ways to expand it, and promote it more, and get more people (to come).”

Ross points out there are 13 vendors that have registered, however more are encouraged to participate. The vendor fee is $20 per farmers market or $140 for the season, and youth 16 and younger can be a vendor for free. Ross notes the fundraising meal aspect is also returning, where non-profit organizations can serve a meal as a fundraiser. Greene County Cattlemen’s Association is serving tomorrow night. Ross reveals that there are a few dates that still need an organization to serve a meal.

Ross invites everyone to check out the Greene County Farmers Market every Tuesday from 4-6:30pm on South Chestnut Street, next to the Gardens. The farmers market goes through September 10th. She adds that anyone interested in being a vendor or signing up for a fundraiser meal can contact the Welcome Center at 515-386-2155, Ross at 515-370-4028 or email at thomasjeffersongardens@gmail.com.
