Today is full of fun and entertainment at the Bell Tower Festival in Jefferson.
The morning activities include the Jefferson Firemen’s Breakfast from 6-10am at the firestation, along with the Ding Dong Dash and the disc golf tournament, and Bell Tower Festival Committee member Emily Dyer says from 9am-4pm at Kelso Park, people have a chance to travel back in time.
“The Armies of the Southwest are doing a Civil reenactment, and they’re also going to be in the parade as well. So you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of them during the parade and then maybe go take a hike out to Kelso Park and go see what they’re doing out there. It sounds really cool.”
The parade happens from 11am-12:30pm, followed by the pickleball tournament at 12:30pm, the vendors and the carnival also start up at 12:30pm. The new afternoon entertainment on the South Plaza Stage of the Greene County Courthouse grounds is the Dueling Pianos at 1pm.
The other afternoon festivities includes mud volleyball at the Greene County Fairgrounds and the car show on the downtown square, both at 1pm; a trivia competition begins at 4pm, followed by a bags tournament at 5pm. Live bingo starts at 6pm, and the evening’s musical entertainment is from the band Black Top at 9pm. Dyer describes how she felt planning went this year for the festival, culminating to about 30 people when the event takes place.
“We have a really good committee and a really good group of people to work with. We kind of pick our niche and we go with it. It’s not as stressful as it was (in) 2020 when it was a team of six (people).”
Additionally, Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will also be there broadcasting live from 9am-6pm on KGRA 98.9FM and on the website at raccoonvalleyradio.com.
