The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball team is in the meat of conference play, and split the last two games, both in extra innings.
The Tigers captured their seventh win of the season on Wednesday when they beat the Winterset Huskies on the road 2-1 in extra innings. In the game, ADM’s Sophomore Lauren Hagedorn knocked a solo home run out of the park to give the Tigers the 1-0 advantage. In the bottom of the second, Huskie Senior Molly Breeding got an RBI to tie the game at one.
The scored would go the distance as the teams played an extra three innings. The top of the 10th inning saw ADM’s Aleah Johnson get to third on a one-out triple, which then was followed by a successful bunt from Junior Aniston Tollari to bring Johnson in for the 2-1 lead. The Tigers would not allow the Huskies to score to win the game. Hagedorn was on the mound playing all 10 innings and striking out eight.
Thursday night, ADM was back at home to take on the Carlisle Wildcats, where they fell 2-1 in eight innings. The Wildcats scored first in the top of the third inning with the Tigers tying it in the bottom of the fifth. Carlisle got the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth and ADM couldn’t get the equalizer. Hagedorn was able to get a RBI and pitched three innings, striking out six batters. ADM now sits at 7-5 overall (5-2 inside the Raccoon River Conference) and Carlisle improves to 11-4 overall (5-3 RRC).
The Wildcats will be in Webster City tonight facing off against the Lynx and the Tigers will be participating in the DJ Classic today at the North Scott Athletic Complex with two games at 3:30 and 5:20pm.
