Severe weather was present in the northern portion of Dallas County on early Tuesday evening.

Raccoon Valley Radio’s (RVR) Severe Weather Action Team began broadcasting a little after 7pm following a severe thunderstorm warning report for northeastern Dallas County from the National Weather Service. Trained weather spotters located a storm over Madrid, or 12 miles north of Grimes moving east at 30 mph around 7:05pm. Another warning was issued from the weather service at 7:23pm following a severe thunderstorm in the Granger area lasting until about 8:15pm. The City of Perry saw torrential rain come through close to 7:30pm with Shane Searcy of the National Weather Service reporting increasing winds of up to 50 mph in West Des Moines. 

According to the National Weather Service, another severe thunderstorm was spotted over Ankeny moving east at 30 mph at 7:46pm. The weather service officially expired the warning at 8:06pm for Dallas County. Four RVR employees, along with Weatherology Meteorologists assisted in the live coverage. Anytime there is a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning issued for Greene, Dallas or Guthrie counties, Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team will bring live coverage until the storms move out of the area or drop below severe levels.
