The community of Greenfield is still recovering from the recent devastating tornado and Dallas County Supervisor Mark Hanson discusses his personal connection to the tragedy.

Hanson tells Raccoon Valley Radio that his wife Tamara Wiggins was related to the couple, Dean and Pam Wiggins, who were killed in the tornado on May 21st. Hanson went over to Greenfield to offer support and assistance to the family and his wife was out of the town at the time.

A few days following the tornado, Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante found a picture laying outside of the Sheriff’s Office but had no idea who the owner was. Infante knew that Hanson had a lot of family in the Greenfield area, so he presented Hanson the picture at the Memorial Day Service at the Veterans Memorial in Dallas County to find out if he knew anyone in the picture, and turns out, Hanson recognized Dean from the photo and was astonished it landed so far from home.

“That was the craziest thing that my own Sheriff Adam (Infante), who I’ve known for years, hands me a photograph that he found in Dallas County of my wife’s uncle.”

Hanson has visited Greenfield and didn’t realize the magnitude of the tragedy as he notes that members from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Emergency Management Agency, and Public Health were there helping in any way possible.
