Some Guthrie County residents will be making their way to South Carolina in June.

Central Iowa Student Anglers President and Coach Jeremy King says that three teams from their club will be representing the state of Iowa at the National and World High School Fishing Tournament June 19th to June 22nd. He mentions that as part of their and other teams’s preparations, no one participating in the tournament is allowed to pre-fish Lake Hartwell in South Carolina for the 30 days prior to the tournament. King tells Raccoon Valley Radio that there is a time frame that opens up just before the tournament though.

“They want to try and make that playing field as even as possible. So you are allowed to pre-fish, but it’ll be the two and a half days before the tournament, and everybody’s allowed to at that point.”

King explains that the three teams are looking forward to the trip, and will head down on June 16th to be able to pre-fish and learn about the habits of the fish living in the waters. He adds that this truly is a World Tournament as well as the National one, as teams from Europe and a few African countries will also be in attendance.
