Greene County scored a season high four runs, but fell to powerhouse Van Meter, 12-4, in Jefferson at Allensworth Field last night in non-conference high school baseball. The game was the first at home for Coach Kyle Stalder’s team, and the Rams are now 0-5 while the Bulldogs are 8-1.

The Rams had four hits, all singles. Junior Crew Conner went two for three with base hits from freshman Jaron Jacobs and junior Lane Fields. Fields, plus juniors Gavyn Winters and Marcus Ball each drove in a run.

Sophomore Teagan Chisholm pitched five innings for the Rams and Conner had two innings on the mound. Chisholm allowed 10 runs, seven earned, on seven hits, three batters hits with pitches. and four walks. Conner walked a batter in his two innings, but did not allow a run or a hit. Fields briefly pitched, giving up one run, but not recording an out. Greene County pitchers did not strike anyone out. The Bulldogs scored four first inning runs and led from start to finish.
