Excellence was on display on Tuesday afternoon at Cownie Sports Complex in Des Moines, as Dallas Center – Grimes girls soccer begin their quest for a 3 peat in the 2A tournament against Cedar Rapids – Xavier. The first half turned out to be the difference as DCG put up four goals in the frame, winning 4-1 to move to the semifinals tomorrow. DCG moves to 16-3 on the year while CR – Xavier ends the year at 9-5.

Four different players put up goals in the half, with Landry Glasgow getting the first goal at 8 minutes with an assist from Alexa Gill. After a Xavier goal, DCG struck back quickly at 21 minutes with Kylie Knief firing a goal into the back of the net to give them the lead. Then Olivia Cyr scored eight minutes later with an assist from Kylie Knief to expand the lead, then Kenna Knief with with 37 minutes into the half got that 4th goal.

In the second half, DCG was able to maintain control and have success with possession time, and really dictate how the game went.

DCG will take on North Scott tomorrow in the semifinals after the Lancers stunned Waverly – Shell Rock in their quarterfinal game. The game will be at 12:45 pm at Cownie Sports Complex and you can listen to the game on KDLS.
