Due to the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, the Greene County Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday.
During open forum, Greene County Sheriff Deputy Heath Enns told the Board that Sheriff Jack Williams will be recognized with the Governor’s Volunteer Award on June 25th. He spoke about the different roles that Williams has both professionally and personally in the community.
The Board then voted to go into its Drainage District meeting as the Board of Trustees where they approved the assessment schedule for the 14 drainage districts in the county, along with a six percent waiver rate for the next fiscal year.
Next, a public hearing took place for the proposed amendments to the 2024 fiscal year budget. Some of the amendments for the revenues were $288,000 for additional Road Use Tax for the Secondary Roads Department and $35,000 to the Conservation Department from a Greene County Community Foundation grant, among others. Some of the adjusted expenses were $60,000 for additional housing and transporting inmates from the Sheriff’s Office, $15,000 for additional expenses to the juvenile detention facility in Eldora, among others. The Board approved the amendments following the public hearing.
The Board also approved a resolution for a transfer of $400,000 from the General Basic fund to the Capital Project fund for pre-construction of the new county jail. The General Basic fund will be reimbursed with bond proceeds. Finally, the Board approved the bills for May 28th as presented.
