Coach Tom Kennedy’s Greene County High School softball team plays at the City Field in Jefferson tonight. It’s the start of the home schedule for the Rams after they went 2-3, all on the road, last week. Grand View Christian (Des Moines) is the opponent tonight in non-conference play and the Thunder have a 1-4 record. Both teams went 0-2 on Saturday at the Ogden Tournament.
The Rams have a .241 batting average through the first five games of the season and are led at the plate by junior Daniele Madsen with a .455 average, going five for 11 in just four games. Freshman Bellah Johnson is three for nine, a .333 average. Freshman Alaina Heard led the pitching staff last week with a 2-2 record and 5.11 earned run average.
Tonight’s varsity contest will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with the first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
