There are several closures for Memorial Day, along with services.

In Guthrie Center, City Hall will be closed for the holiday, with the City Council meeting moved to Tuesday. The Guthrie Center post office, along with Guthrie County State Bank, Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and Mary J Barnett Memorial Library will all be closed for the holiday as well. In Panora, City Hall, the library, Guthrie County State Bank and post office will be closed. For Stuart, City Hall will be closed in observance of Memorial Day on Monday and return to regular hours Tuesday. The post office, Stuart Public Library and First State Bank along with Rolling Hills Bank and Trust will also be closed for the holiday.

In Guthrie Center, Omar B Shearer American Legion Post 124 will be holding a Memorial Day ceremony at the memorial at the Guthrie County Courthouse beginning at 10am, then offer a free will donation lunch from 11am to 2pm at the Legion Hall. Post Commander Tom Clayton wants to thank the incoming juniors and seniors at Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center High School for putting up the flags in the cemetery.

A Memorial Day service will be held on Monday at Veterans Auditorium in Panora, with the ceremony to begin at 10:30am. Stuart American Legion, James C. Mcghee Post 146 is setting up flags at South Oak Cemetery at 9:30am today, with their ceremony to take place on Monday at 9:30am at the cemetery as well. Post Commander Chuck Avey mentions that they will begin cleaning up at the cemetery at 5pm Monday night.
