A Scranton man was recently sentenced after leaving a work release facility in Webster County from a previous conviction.
According to court documents, 31-year-old Darren Lehrkamp pled guilty to a lesser charge of a serious misdemeanor for voluntary absence from custody. He was ordered to serve an additional 15 days in the Webster County Jail, which was to be served consecutively to the previous prison sentence Lehrkamp was already serving.
The charge stemmed from when Lehrkamp failed to report to the Fort Dodge Residential Center on February 3rd. Lehrkamp was sentenced to five years in prison from a Class D Felony conviction of intimidation with a dangerous weapon in March of 2023 and was admitted to the work release facility on November 17, 2023.
Lehrkamp was also ordered to pay over $450 in fines and surcharges. Lehrkamp was originally charged with a Class D Felony for escape from custody.
