The Dallas County Hospital & Family Medicine Clinics recently announced the recipient of the DAISY Award.

The hospital is recognizing Dawn Waters, who is a Registered Nurse Health Coach for 15 years at Dallas County Hospital. According to DCH, DAISY stands for Disease Attacking the Immune System and was established in 1999 in remembrance of Patrick Barnes, who passed away at the age of 33. Waters reflects on her career in forming relationships with her patients.

“It really has been a great career in nursing for me, working as a health coach. It’s a different relationship versus just doing plain education only for patients, so it’s those relationships that are ongoing that are quite the honor to be apart of helping patients reach their goals.”

The DAISY Award is given to individuals that display the same compassionate, extraordinary care that Barnes received during his treatment.
