Anyone looking for some entertainment and experience of what central and eastern Greene County has to offer are encouraged to participate in a bike ride this Saturday.
The 4th Annual Bike Ride Around Greene County (BRAG) is a 36-mile route that starts at 9:30am at the Welcome Center in Jefferson. The stops along the route include Lakeside National Golf Club, 209 Main in Paton, a water break in Dana, 30 Yard Line in Grand Junction and the final destination is back in Jefferson at Doc’s Stadium.
Co-organizer Emily Dyer explains there is an incentive for people to finish BRAG and that is getting a stamp at each of the stops on a postcard that is given to the participants at the beginning. If a cyclist gets the postcard filled, it goes into a drawing for a new bike, however, the winner must be present to win. Dyer talks about why she enjoys helping to co-lead an event like this every year.
“I just like having local events. I hate seeing everyone having to go to Ames or going to Des Moines to go have a fun time when really if we just create the event here, we can stick close to home and we can have fun.
Dyer adds about 50 people signed up during the early bird registration and regular registration is now $45. Check-ins will be from 8:30-9:30am and the race will begin at 9:30am. Contact the Welcome Center at 515-386-2155 or click here to register online.
