A decision was made to rename Perry High School’s Gymnasium after late principal at Monday’s school board meeting.
The Perry School District tragically lost longtime High School Principal Dan Marburger following the January 4th shooting. At Monday’s meeting, the board came to a decision to rename the high school gym to “Dan Marburger Court” to honor the principal who worked for the school district from 1997 to 2024. Dan’s wife, Elizabeth, thanked the board for making this decision as she emphasized that he was a huge advocate in the athletics department.
Other items on the agenda that were approved include naming three people to be the Custodial Fund Administrators (Lou Hoger, Joseph Shelly, and Donna Emmert), an update about the Sitelogiq Professional Services Agreement and Professional Design Agreement, juvenile services contract declarations and execution agreement, giving Hiland a two-year extension, and approving the instructional and activity fee schedule for the 2024-2025 school year.
Additional items that were approved include the iJAG Memorandum of Understanding for $50,000 for the middle school in 2024-2025, student handbooks for activities for preschool, elementary, middle and high schools, approving the Perry Community School District Retention Bonus Agreement, an agreement with Davis County Community School District to provide mental health services, as well as discussion of revised board policies and personnel.
During the Superintendent Report, Dr. Mandy Ross, who recently retired as Superintendent of Webster City (but was formerly with the Perry School District) laid out the recovery plan for the community. Ross highlighted that the recovery process will continue to evolve in the upcoming months. Perry Superintendent Clark Wicks pinpointed important dates with tomorrow being senior awards night, May 22nd will focus on staff, May 26th is graduation, and the last day of school is May 29th.
