Windy conditions greeted Greene County’s high school golfers on Thursday and both the girls and boys performed well. Coach Heath Telleen’s girls won 205-239 at The Hill west of Grand Junction vs. Glidden-Ralston, while Kyle Kinne’s boys team was second in a quadrangular in Des Moines at Woodland Hills Golf Course.

Coach Telleen told Raccoon Valley Radio the girls score was a season best, and sophomore Maya Telleen was medalist for the nine hole round at 46. Other scores counting in the team total for the Rams was a 51 from freshman Taylor Johnston, 52 from senior Hallie Monthei and 56 from junior Maggie Mikkelsen. G-R was led by a 50 from Addy Boell.

The boys shot 167, just three shots behind South Hamilton (Jewel) at 164. Roland-Story (Story City) had 173 and host Saydel (Des Moines) was fourth. Senior Jack Hansen was runner-up medalist with a nine hole round of 40, followed by 41 from freshman Landon Vote, 42 for senior Nathan Behne, and 44 by sophomore Carter Hinote. The coach of the Rams told Raccoon Valley Radio the greens were extremely hard and chipping and putting was a challenge, as was playing in strong winds.
