Thursday, April 18th

10:58am: Francis Baker of Jefferson reported a stray dog running loose near the intersection of Grimmell Road and West Lincoln Way. The Officer checked the area and did not find the dog.

11:29am: An Officer performed a traffic stop near the intersection of North Elm Street / Sunset Road. As a result of the traffic stop, Jacob Lee Kopaska of Coon Rapids was issued a citation for “Operating a Non Registered Vehicle”.

1:56pm: Jacob Sanders of Guthrie Center reported possible neglect occurring in Jefferson of a family member. The case was referred to the Department of Human Services for further investigation.

1:56 pm: Staff with the Greene County Medical Center Emergency Room reported a patient with a suspected dog bite. The Officer investigated and determined a dog bite had not occurred.

5:00pm: An Officer performed a traffic stop near the intersection of Lincoln Way / Chestnut Street. As a result of the traffic stop, Jeremy Lee Hobbs of Story City was issued citations for “Fail to Display Registration Plate” and “Violation of Financial Liability Coverage”

8:31pm:Danene Janssen of Jefferson reported her dog had gotten loose and asked the Officer watch for it. The Officer was unable to locate the missing dog.

Friday, April 19th

12:04pm: Staff with the Wild Rose Casino reported a patron on the property who was not allowed to be. The Officer investigated the report. As a result of the investigation, Robert Vogel of Creston, Iowa was charged with “Trespass – Simple”

3:48pm: An anonymous caller reported a red Camaro being driven in a reckless manner on Elm Street, southbound from 220th Street. The Officer checked the area and did not locate the vehicle.

6:15pm: Twyla Lindsey reported a suspected theft of property from her residence. The Officer is investigating.

8:16pm: An Officer performed a traffic stop in the 1200 block of North Elm Street. As a result of the traffic stop, Shannon Merical of Jefferson was issued a warning for “Fail to use Headlamps”. The Officer performed a consent search of the vehicle. Suspected controlled substances were located during the search. The items were collected by the Officer. The Officer is investigating and charges are pending.

8:48pm: Dakota Amos of Grand Junction reported a disabled vehicle in the roadway near the intersection of North Wilson Street / East Central Street. The Officer arranged to have the vehicle towed to the owner’s property.

9:02pm: Sarah Roeder of Jefferson reported a possible assault having occurred in the 400 block of South Wilson Street. The Officer investigated and found the victim did not wish to have charges pursued.

10:40pm: Jeana Shepherd of Jefferson reported a possible intoxicated driver approaching Jefferson on Highway 4. The Officer located the reported vehicle and observed it. The Officer witnessed no violations of the law.

Saturday, April 20th

3:05am: An Officer was dispatched to the Cobblestone Hotel, 771 Wild Rose Drive for a fire alarm activation. The Officer responded and it was determined it was a false alarm.

9:16am: While on patrol an Officer located a vehicle on the side of the road near the intersection of 220th Street and Elm Street. The Officer spoke with the driver and found no assistance was needed.

10:35am: Darlene Zollars of Jefferson asked the Officer questions regarding a civil dispute over property. The Officer answered these questions.

10:45am: Roger Coffin of Jefferson reported a suspected fraud he had been involved with online. The Officer is investigating.

12:44pm: Curt Wills of Jefferson reported a suspicious person going door to door in the 500 block of West Stanford Street. The Officer searched the area and did not find the reported person.

1:11pm: Wiley Chumos of Paton reported he had been assaulted while at a residence in Jefferson. The Officer is investigating.

8:35pm: An Officer was dispatched to the Cobblestone Hotel, 771 Wild Rose Drive for a fire alarm activation. The Officer responded and it was determined it was a false alarm.

Sunday, April 21st

12:47pm: An Officer was dispatched to the 300 block of North Maple Street for an abandoned 911 call. The Officer checked the area and did not find the source of the call.

12:48pm: Kelsi Miller of Grand Junction reported a male walking westbound on 220 th Street near the intersection with Grimmell Road. The Officer located the male. He was not violating the law and did not want assistance.

3:24pm: An Officer assisted the Greene County Ambulance crew with a medical call in the 800 block of West South Street.

7:38pm: An Officer was dispatched to the 400 block of East McKinley Street for an open line 911 call. The Officer found the source of the call and found it was accidental.

7:52pm: An Officer responded to a residence in the 500 block of South Cedar to locate a person known to have an active Boone County Arrest Warrant. As a result, Emily Fisher of Boone was placed under arrest and later transferred to Boone County.

8:28pm: Josh Derry of Jefferson reported a person driving recklessly on a motorcycle near the intersection of McKinley Street / Chestnut Street. The Officer did not locate the reported vehicle.

11:31pm: Ted Semke of Jefferson requested a welfare check on a subject in Jefferson. The Officer performed the check and assisted as needed.

***16 parking citations were issued on April 19, 2024, for violations of the City of Jefferson’s “Street Sweeping – parking prohibited” ordinance.
