Dallas Center – Grimes boys and girls soccer both had major soccer invitationals over the weekend, with the boys in Cedar Rapids and the girls in West Des Moines, and both finding success in the process. DCG boys were able to pick up a 4-1 victory over Bettendorf and a 3-2 victory over Pleasant Valley. The girls went into extra time before defeating Bishop Heelan and Sioux City North 10-0. The boys move to 7-2 on the season while the girls are now 6-1.
Brogan Fuller was tremendous against Pleasant Valley as he was able to tally two goals and help spearhead the Mustangs to a solid victory. Ben Jackson was able to play one of his finest matches of the season against Bettendorf as he recorded a hat trick with three goals. The two wins ups the DCG winning streak to five.
The girls faced two quality teams and were able to put together a swift result against Sioux City North, before facing a terrific challenge and surviving it in their win over Bishop Heelan. The girls have now won four straight matches overall.
Boys soccer will have their next game tomorrow in Grimes when they take on West Des Moines Valley, while the girls will not play again until Friday when they host multiple teams in their invitational in Grimes.
