More details have been released about the tornado that was spotted near Minburn on Tuesday.

The National Weather Service initially reported a sighting of a tornado near Minburn Tuesday morning at about 11:09am. Meteorologist Brooke Hagenhoff tells Raccoon Valley Radio that all the damage occurred several miles east of Minburn. She emphasizes that no homes were damaged but a few outbuildings were and shares the statistics from the Enhanced Fujita (EF) Scale.

“The path link is about seven miles and the tornado has been rated as an EF-0, with wind speeds estimated between 75 and 85 miles per hour.”

Hagenhoff describes elements that constitute EF levels are related to wind speed, and how much damage is the result of that. She elaborates that research is used to determine wind speeds impact of different building types as well as looking at radar data.
