With the temperatures getting warmer, the Dallas County Conservation Board is planning a hike for Saturday.

A spring hike is planned for  the Kuehn Conservation Area on Saturday from 10-11am. Conservation Outreach Coordinator Sarah McKeever tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the hike will begin at the top by the parking lot then move downwards toward the forest trails.

“This one is family friendly. Again, if you know Kuehn, there is quite a bit of elevation change to get down to that lower prairie, so climbing back up out of there can be difficult for some individuals but we go slow and take our time, so don’t let that deter you.”

McKeever notes that people will have an opportunity to witness the wildflowers on the way down towards the lower river, as it will provide a snapshot of the changing of the seasons. The event is free and open to the public.
