The Iowa Senate recently passed a bill pertaining to public education that was not part of the big three items this session.

Senator for District 12 Amy Sinclair says House File 2465 is about agriculture curriculum in high schools.

“A lot of that farming activity is as intense with math and science curriculum as, you know, maybe some kind of advanced biology class or a business math class. And so this would allow a school district to develop coursework that was focused on those agri-business and agri-science courseworks.”

Sinclair mentions that the curriculums would allow agri-business and agri-science classes to double as math and science graduation requirements. She adds that this is helpful, because it helps the students take courses that align with the field that they want to pursue after education.
