The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Girls Golf team has one meet under their belt, and Seniors Delaney Kahler and Cecelia Gardiner reflect on the area that Head Coach Dana Brown has helped them improve in.
ADM won their opening meet against Panorama 195-287, and in that Gardiner shot a best of 44, with Kahler contributing a 54. The girls credit Coach Brown for helping them grow in several areas since beginning their freshmen year. Gardiner tells Raccoon Valley Radio that her leadership role is an area that’s been developed.
“I think just building up that leadership role and like obviously golf is not a sport that people just jump into and are good at right away, so like building up freshmen and sophomores, younger girls’ confident, I think is a big thing that Dana did for me personally and she just never doubted me and always help me grow in that aspect, so I think helping those girls grow as they come in is a huge thing I learned from Dana.”
Kahler notes that her confidence has been revamped.
“Coming in as a freshman I wasn’t really confident, golf is a hard game to get into, and she kind of just built up the mentality, like mental toughness of playing golf because the round can take a turn at any moment. She’s a great mental coach and I really appreciate that about her coaching style.”
The next game for the Tigers is tomorrow taking on Woodward-Granger at the River Valley Golf Course in Adel, beginning at 4pm.
