A local organization in Jefferson recently made a donation to the Sierra Community Theatre.

The Morning Star Masonic Lodge #159 invited the movie theater staff and the board to dinner where they gave a $1,000 donation. Sierra Community Theatre Board Member Mike Piepel says the two groups have been partners since 1884 when the building was built and the Masons had the top half and the theater was in the bottom half. He and movie theater manager Sarah Nichloson are grateful to the Masons for their donation.

Piepel talks about what those funds are going to be used for.

“Looking at marque renovation. We’re still looking at the facade and we’re doing that. We have an outside architect working with us and we’re looking for completion of that this year, prior to December, we are in hopes, but part of that money (the donation) will go to help fund that.”

Piepel adds the movie theater accepts donations all year around.
