Greene County’s high school girls’ soccer team played on Monday night vs. Boone at Linduska Field in Jefferson to open the 2024 season. The Toreadors won the match by a score of 6-0 after the first half was scoreless.
Boone took a 1-0 lead less than eight minutes into the second half and the score stayed that way until Boone scored five more times in the last eight minutes. The Toreadors evened their season record at 1-1.
Greene County played a lot of defense in this one with goalkeeper Lucy Vander Linden under constant pressure. The sophomore made stop after stop the first 32 minutes of play. Offensively, the Rams did not have a shot on goal.
