Greene County ISU Extension is planning on a jam-packed summer with several opportunities for youth to be engaged.

Greene County Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Hardaway says the new slate of summer camps will be available on April 1st. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio the 40 camps will be shared on their social media, emailed to 4-H’ers, available at the Greene County Extension Office, among other places. Hardaway points out something new for this year is that youth are to register for the camps via her email address.

“This is just easier for us to navigate who’s calling and when they’re leaving messages, and texting me. It’s just very hard to make sure that everybody is getting a fair chance at the camp. So this year it’ll be email only.”

Hardaway says some of the new camps include a gravity and spinning activity incorporated in carnival rides, along with new local business partnerships for floral arrangements, woodworking, among others. She adds that the new Summer Program Coordinator that will handle most of these camps is Lizzy Allen. Hardaway’s email is hardaway@iastate.edu
