The Perry Chamber will be hosting a first in a series of job fairs for Tyson workers next week.

The Chamber, along with the City of Perry, Perry Economic Development, Iowa Workforce Development, and Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) is responding to the announcement of Tyson Foods shutting down its Perry Pork Plant at the end of June. The first job fair is happening this upcoming Wednesday featuring many businesses to showcase their open positions. Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti tells Raccoon Valley Radio that 120 businesses contacted them wanting to be apart of the job fair, but she denied a lot of them because she wants this particular event to be smaller. She names some of the businesses that will attend.

“Osmundson Manufacturing (Company), Dallas County Hospital, Landus Percival, Quick Oil (Company), Perry Lutheran Homes, Van Wall Equipment, AccuJet, Hyline, HyVee.”

Pasutti illustrates that this gives people a chance to see local job opportunities that are needing employees. She adds that although this job fair is tailored towards Tyson employees, it is open to the public. Pasutti also adds that a bigger job is in the works for the month of May. The job fair will be at Hotel Pattee in Perry from 3-6pm on Wednesday.
