Greene County High School boys’ soccer player Gesser (pronounced Hess-er) Gutierres sits at 69 career goals heading into tomorrow’s season opener at 6 p.m. at Linduska Field vs. Central Iowa United, which is West Marshall (State Center) as the host school. One of Iowa’s top goal scorers last season at 42, Gutierres averaged 2.33 goals per match for the 13-5 Rams, who advanced to the Class 2A State Tournament.

The Rams averaged 4.88 goals a game last season while limiting opponents to just over one goal per contest. Goalkeeper Gabe Ebersole returns and enters his fourth season in goal for the Rams. He has a career save percentage of 84%.

Several other starters are back for head coach Carl Behne and assistant coach Chad Black.
