The West Central Valley School Board will meet in regular session tonight.

The Board will start with an open session regarding negotiations between the West Central Valley Education Association and Laborers International Union, Local 177 and the Board, then hold a workshop for cyber training.

The Board will then enter the regular session, and hold a public hearing regarding the 2024-25 academic calendar, consider for approval hiring Will Gormally and Amanda Claussen, the resignations of Nicole Gish, Kent Muyskens, Carl Ray Hornbeck-Kaiser and Tonya Otto, and the adjustment of Jodee O’Conner and Sarah Garcia to $50 a week for Food Supervisor duties until a supervisor is hired. They will also consider for approval attendance of the FFA State Convention, University of Northern Iowa teaching agreement, local government risk pool for natural gas and a device rotation plan.

The Board will consider for approval a resolution fixing the date for a public hearing on the proposed use of Secure an Advanced Vision for Education (SAVE) revenue for an athletic facility project, set a public hearing date for the fiscal year 2025 proposed tax notice on April 3rd, the fiscal year 2025 certified budget for April 17th and the fiscal year 2024 budget amendment on May 15th.

They will then consider for approval 2024-25 grounds bids from Schwinger Lawn Services and Short’s Lawn Care and mowing bids before entering into an exempt session, then discussing upcoming dates including the public hearings for proposed tax notice, resolution using SAVE Funds and athletic complex parking lot meeting on April 3rd and next regular board meeting and budget hearing on April 17th.

The meeting will begin at 7pm, preceded by the public meeting and workshop, and all will take place in the District Board Room. Raccoon Valley Radio will have results from the meeting later in the week.
