A Minnesota man was recently sentenced to prison for child sex abuse in Greene County.
According to court documents, 39-year-old Rene Dominguez pled guilty to a Class C Felony for third degree sex abuse and a Class D Felony for lascivious acts against a child solicit child for sex act. He was sentenced to ten years in prison for the Class C Felony and five years in prison for the Class D Felony, with those sentences to run concurrently for a total of ten years. Court documents further show that Dominquez will be placed under supervision for the rest of his life.
The charges stem from an investigation by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. In 2021, the victim’s mother reported that her child had been sexually assaulted in Rippey by Dominquez sometime in late 2017 and early 2018. Dominquez was using an alias, Eden Marin, at the time and when confronted, he left in the middle of the night and was believed to have fled to Mexico, while also being an illegal immigrant.
Court documents show that the victim spoke with Child’s Voice in South Dakota and said they were inappropriately touched in 2017 by Marin in Rippey and then one year later a sex act was performed when they moved to Minnesota.
Court documents show that Dominquez will be registered on Iowa’s Sex Offender Registry for the rest of his life. He was also ordered to pay over $2,000 in fines, surcharges, and victim restitution. As per the plea agreement, both charges were amended, with the Class C Felony that was originally a Class B Felony for second degree sexual abuse and the Class D Felony was originally a Class C Felony for lascivious acts against a child.
