A Dallas County representative has been recognized for getting a certificate as part of the next steps in his position.

Dallas County Emergency Coordinator AJ Seely was granted an Advanced certificate for the Iowa Certified Emergency Manager at the Iowa Emergency Management Association spring business meeting. Seely tells Raccoon Valley Radio that both the advanced certificate along with an executive certificate are newer levels, and notes that this advanced certificate is the next step in the learning process. He describes what the recognition means to him.

“I’m humbled to continue to grow in my emergency management skills, and be recognized for that. That’s primarily the main thing, and then to be able to use those skills and serve the people of Dallas County is ultimately what it’s all for.”

Seely explains that there are specific program elements that need to be achieved throughout the training and exercise cycle, the professional contribution space plus a few other categories to exemplify that an emergency manager meets the qualifications to obtain the certification.
