January unemployment rates saw increases across the Raccoon Valley Radio area.

According to Iowa Workforce Development, Guthrie County had the largest increase in the Raccoon Valley Radio area of a 1.4 percent raise in unemployment from December 2023 to January 2024 to 4.2 percent. Greene County went up 0.8 percent from December to January to 2.5 percent. Dallas County had an incline of 0.6 percent from December to January to 2.6 percent. 

The statewide employment rate from December to January went down by 0.2 percent from 3.2 to three percent. The national unemployment rate for January 2024 was 3.7 percent.
