Two Greene County High School students will get to continue their individual speech seasons, as they were selected to perform at the Iowa High School Speech Association Individual All-State Festival.
Greene County Speech Coach Kelley Gray says Gavin Vander Linden and Maggie Mikkelsen were both nominated in reviewing by the room judges to perform at All-State. All of the students that competed this past Saturday at the State Individual Contest for the Rams received straight Division I-ratings from the three room judges. Those students included Vander Linden for reviewing and musical theater, Esther Van Horn in literary program and prose, Bill Wright for radio news and after dinner speaking, Leah McCormick for prose, Brooklyn Roberts with storytelling, and Ava Schilling with acting.
According to Paton-Churdan, three students also competed at the State Individual Contest and two of them earned an overall Division I-rating with Catarina Hobbs with storytelling and Blaise Schilling with poetry, while Ella Tasler received an overall Division II-rating for poetry.
The IHSSA Individual All-State Speech Festival will take place on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa on March 25th.
