A Perry woman was arrested in Jefferson for allegedly possessing drugs.
Jefferson Police Chief Mark Clouse says an officer was pulling out the temporary stop signs near the Greene County Middle School after 3pm on Wednesday, when a vehicle heading south on Highway 4 went through the area and the officer noticed the driver, Tammy Tolsdorf of Jefferson, had a suspended driver’s license. Clouse tells Raccoon Valley Radio, the officer finished setting the stop sign in place on the highway and stopped the vehicle near 270th Street and Highway 4.
Clouse says because Tolsdorf had a suspended license, she was cited for that as well as failure to provide proof of insurance. He notes that the officer had Tolsdorf and her passenger, 38-year-old Samantha Randall of Perry step out of the vehicle because it was going to be towed. Clouse points out Tolsdorf gave the officer consent to search the vehicle and that the officer allowed the two women to sit inside the patrol vehicle due to the high winds and cold temperatures. He says before the women could do that, the officer needed to search them.
Clouse explains when the officer was searching Randall, drug-related items were found, including methamphetamine and synergies. The officer then arrested Randall and charged her with a Class D Felony for her third or subsequent offense for possession of methamphetamine and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. Randall was then booked into the Greene County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
