The Dallas County Board of Supervisors needs extra time to review a proposal presented pertaining to the Criminal Building in Adel.

Christopher Orth, of Farnsworth Group, shared some conceptual designs of a new Criminal Court Building in Adel. Orth proposed two potential sites, with one north of the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and the other one would be west of the office. He presented the board with several building options. The first option was a one-story building with 305 parking stalls, six courtrooms, and measured at 60,815 square feet. The second option was a two-story building with 316 parking spaces, six courtrooms, measuring approximately 62,000 square feet. Finally, the third option was a three-story building with six courtrooms and 62,600 square feet. Orth was willing to wait until returning later this month to hear a decision from the board about moving forward with the project.

Other items that were approved at the meeting were a Gambling Awareness Proclamation, which would offer treatment of gambling addiction to Dallas County residents, the City of Dawson Road Project 28E Agreement, which includes Road P46, and a resolution for DeSoto Investments abating real estate taxes. The board entered into a closed session followed by their weekly budget workshop.
