A Churdan man was arrested for an alleged drug incident.
According to court documents a search warrant was executed at a home in the 900 block of Head Street in Churdan on February 20th. Drug-related items were recovered, along with a gun magazine with live .380 caliber rounds. When thirty-eight-year-old Justin Downs was questioned about the items being in his possession, he denied possessing them. Drug test results from the Iowa Division of Criminalistics Laboratory were positive for methamphetamine on one of the glass smoking pipes.
Downs was charged with a Class D Felony for dominion/control of a firearm by a domestic abuse offender, an aggravated misdemeanor for his second offense for possession of a controlled substance violation, a serious misdemeanor for his second offense for possession of marijuana, and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked and remains in the Greene County Jail under a $7,000 bond.
