M&W Ag Supply was the traveling trophy winner
The Greene County Cattlemen’s Association held its annual banquet and auction on Saturday.
The main fundraiser for the local Cattlemen’s Association made a total of $27,150 with the most expensive trophy at $1,200 for the Grand Champion Breeding Animal Belt Buckle. M & W Ag Supply repeated as the top donor of the night and reclaimed the traveling trophy. President Justin Robbins appreciates the community support they receive not only at their annual banquet and auction, but all year.
“The community support is so amazing that we get at these events and I think it’s due to just being able to help the youth in the area, and being able to step up and help out in any way we can. It’s great to see the community come out and do this, and there’ll still be support coming in.”
Robbins points out one of the ways the Greene County Cattlemen’s Association gives back to the community is by sponsoring the jackets for the newest Greene County FFA members, which some of them help volunteer at their banquet.
“These kids that show up and help us year in and year out are great. They enjoy it. If they didn’t like doing it, they wouldn’t come. It’s nice to see those young faces here and you know in a couple of years, I expect them to be filling out scholarship applications and that’s something they need to put on there. There’s no good deed that’s unrewarded around here.”
Also during the Saturday event, there was acknowledgement of the 2023 scholarship recipients, which included Autumn Consier, Kaitlin Fields, Bailey Anderson, Emma Hoyle, Parker Fitzpatrick, McKinley Robbins, Grace Curtis, and Jacob Brus. Money raised at the auction goes back to various community projects and organizations, along with scholarships for this year’s graduating seniors and beef promotions.
