Stemming from an incident on March 26, 2023, a Stuart man was convicted on June 23, 2023.

David Reese entered a plea of guilty and was charged with assault on an older individual, a simple misdemeanor, and harassment in the first degree, an aggravated misdemeanor. For the simple misdemeanor, he was sentenced to two days in the Adair County Jail with credit for thirty days already served, a fine of $105 and a statutory 15 percent surcharge. For the aggravated misdemeanor, Reese was sentenced to thirty days in the Adair County Jail, with credit for thirty days already served, along with a fine of $855 and the statutory 15 percent surcharge.

Reese was also made to pay court costs, report to the Adair County Sheriff’s Office for fingerprinting and submit a DNA sample, must observe the previously placed no contact order for five years, and had his appeal bond fixed at $2300.
